Suspected Thief Arrested in Delta, Claims Internet Fraud No Longer Profitable

A 25-year-old individual named Emeka Osemel was detained for stealing a mobile phone in Boji-Boji Owa, located in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

During an interview with Ika Weekly Newspaper, Osemel, who hails from Aliagwai Community but lives in Alihame Community, revealed that he had participated in internet fraud for an extended period, defrauding unsuspecting victims to earn a living.

He mentioned that he had previously maintained a comfortable lifestyle from the illegal gains until recently.

"For the past six months, the Yahoo business has not been paying me again. Because of that, I decided to start stealing people’s properties just to survive," Osemel explained.

The suspect has appealed for forgiveness, stating, "I want you people to please forgive me. It will not happen again."

Osemel's arrest was carried out by members of the Owa Youth Vigilante, a security group established under the Owa Youth Council.

At the time of reporting, officials from the Nigeria Police Force from the Owa-Oyibu Police Division had arrived at the headquarters of the Owa Youth Vigilante to take him into custody for further questioning.
