Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite. The appointment was announced by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially designated Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, taking over from Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

This information was shared by Bayo Onanuga, who serves as the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga also mentioned that Uzoka-Anite will transition to a new role as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, marking her third appointment within this administration.

The announcement stated that President Tinubu has sent Oyedele's nomination to the Senate seeking confirmation, a communication directed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Prior to this ministerial nomination, Oyedele, hailing from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, was the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded a comprehensive reform of Nigeria's tax framework.

At 50 years old, Oyedele comes with extensive expertise as an economist, accountant, and public policy authority. He earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) in accountancy from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

Additionally, he has completed executive education courses at prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Before his ministerial appointment, Oyedele dedicated 22 years of his career to PwC, beginning his tenure in 2001 and ultimately rising to the role of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

He also teaches as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and holds a position as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
