Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun State, has challenged claims suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured President Bola Tinubu's backing for his re-election campaign.
Oyebamiji, through his media team, the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts, has dismissed the speculation as unfounded and misleading.
A statement released by the Coordinator of AMBO Media Fronts, Adebayo Adedeji, declared that the circulated rumour alleging a pact between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke for the upcoming election is false. The statement emphasized that the President would not endorse a candidate perceived as a failure.
"We state unequivocally that this claim is false, unfounded, and a calculated attempt to cajole unsuspecting people of Osun State," Adedeji stated.
He further described the rumour as a "desperate move to shore up the discombobulated image of Governor Adeleke, whose administration has failed to provide purposeful and effective leadership in nearly four years in office."
Oyebamiji asserted that President Tinubu does not recognise Adeleke's leadership capabilities, which is why the governor's reported overtures to defect to the APC last year were reportedly rejected.
"President Tinubu does not tolerate and feel at home with politicians who prioritise their stomach over the well-being of the people they lead. Adeleke does not meet Mr President’s standard of a good leader," the statement read.
Additionally, Oyebamiji suggested that President Tinubu disapproves of leaders with questionable transparency and accountability records, characteristics he attributed to Governor Adeleke's administration.
The report was filed by Yinka Kolawole.
