Transcorp Hilton Abuja has refuted allegations that it cancelled a booking intended for a political rally, describing the claims as "entirely false."

In a statement released on Thursday and signed by its Acting General Manager, Mohamed Khalil, the hotel addressed rumours that had spread on social media, asserting that these claims were not factual.

The allegations suggested that the hotel had cancelled the venue for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Convention, which was scheduled to take place on April 14. For instance, a user on X, formerly Twitter, named @SadiqMaunde, stated, "Lest we forget: Transcorp Hilton that cancelled ADC’s convention venue is owned by Tony Elumelu. Let it be on record."

Responding to these assertions, the hotel reiterated on Thursday that the claims were "inaccurate, malicious, and entirely fabricated," and urged the public to disregard the misinformation.

The statement from Transcorp Hilton clarified, “Our attention has been drawn to false and misleading information circulating on social media alleging that Transcorp Hilton Abuja cancelled a booking for a political rally. We wish to categorically state that this claim is entirely false and does not reflect the facts.”

The hotel further explained that no booking was ever made with them. They noted that an inquiry was received on Easter Monday, but due to a lack of available space, the request could not be accommodated, and consequently, no booking was confirmed.

"Consequently, no booking was made at any point. We therefore reaffirm that there was no cancellation, contrary to what is being purported. The narrative currently being circulated is inaccurate, malicious, and entirely fabricated. We urge the public to disregard this false information,” the hotel concluded.
