Troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully arrested a man suspected to be affiliated with Boko Haram/ISWAP while he was trying to infiltrate Maiduguri, located in Borno State.
The individual, referred to as Saina, was taken into custody around 4:42 p.m. on March 29, 2026, at a checkpoint stationed in the Kilo Papa area.
The apprehension was executed by personnel from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade alongside other security operatives present at the location.
Sources within the security services reported that the suspect was intercepted in a civilian vehicle en route to Maiduguri while donning woodland camouflage trousers, which raised suspicions about his intentions.
During initial questioning, Saina claimed to be a member of hybrid forces operating in the Kumshe region. However, further interrogation suggested that he is an active participant in a terrorist organization and was presumably on a reconnaissance operation.
Following the interrogation, the suspect has been transferred to military intelligence for a comprehensive investigation.
