The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, has issued a warning regarding the diminishing public confidence in Nigeria's judiciary, attributing this decline to political manipulation and the lack of accountability among officials.
In his comments, Ememobong reacted to statements made by Sunday Dare, the Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation. Dare emphasized that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not daunted by the audits of its tenure and asserted that the nation's issues predate the current administration.
While Dare noted that reforms 'require time to develop' and acknowledged improvements in democratic institutions amidst ongoing challenges, Ememobong countered that economic indicators do not reflect the everyday experiences of Nigerians.
Ememobong specifically addressed Dare, stating, 'When discussing GDP, consider how it correlates with the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians. Are their experiences in line with the economic discussions you present? Trust in the judiciary has waned. There is a troubling trend of the judiciary being influenced by politics, as well as political issues being resolved within the judiciary. Furthermore, the absence of consequences is a key factor. These are significant challenges to democratic advancement.'
