The Police Command in Adamawa State has taken two suspects into custody for their alleged involvement in the abduction of a four-year-old child in the Numan Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Friday, March 13, 2026, the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, revealed that the apprehended suspects, identified as Sadiq Ali, aged 19, and Shitu Umar, 23, were demanding a ransom of N800,000 from the victim's father.
According to the report, Umar Ibrahim from Ngballang in Numan LGA filed a complaint at the Numan Police Station. He reported that his son, identified as Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1, 2026, but failed to return home. Despite extensive efforts from the family to locate the child, they were unsuccessful at first.
Days later, the father received a call from an unidentified number claiming that his son had been kidnapped and that a ransom of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N800,000) was required for his release.
After thorough investigations by the police operatives at the Numan Division, the two suspects, residing in Lafiya, Lamurde LGA, were arrested for their connections to the kidnapping.
During their interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to participating in the crime.
The command has assigned its Anti-Kidnapping Unit to advance the investigation and take further necessary actions.
Additionally, the police command reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding the community and encouraged the public to remain alert and to report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station.
