A 50-year-old man named Musa Kimono was reportedly murdered by unidentified individuals at his residence in the Oketecheje area of Idah Local Government Area in Kogi State.
As reported by Daily Trust, the tragic event transpired late on Thursday night, February 12, when armed men stormed his home.
The attack led to Kimono being stabbed to death while his mother and son were present.
A family member who goes by the name Ogwuche relayed that the assailants shot the victim multiple times before stabbing him repeatedly, resulting in his death from blood loss.
"Three unidentified armed men arrived on motorcycles and invaded the house," recounted Ogwuche.
"He was having a conversation with his mother and son when they burst in. They shot and stabbed him several times. Kimono bled to death before any help could reach him."
Ogwuche further mentioned that the victim’s mother was powerless as she witnessed her son’s agonizing moments.
"She begged the killers to spare his life, but they turned a deaf ear. Her cries for help eventually brought attention from neighbors. Unfortunately, by the time assistance arrived, he had succumbed to his injuries, and the attackers had already fled on their motorcycles to an unknown location."
A family source disclosed that the incident has been reported to the authorities, and Kimono's body has been transferred to a local medical facility's morgue.
A police official in Idah confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
