US intelligence agencies have determined that Iran is not in the process of resurrecting its nuclear enrichment program, which was dismantled during a joint military operation executed by the United States and Israel in 2025. This conclusion stands in contrast to the claims made by former President Donald Trump.

The information was shared by Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, in her written testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee as part of the annual threat assessment report.

Gabbard pointed out, "Operation Midnight Hammer led to the complete destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities. No efforts have been made to recover that capability since then," as noted in her submitted report.

However, during her verbal presentation to the Senate, she did not reiterate this finding. When pressed for details, Gabbard explained that time limitations prevented her from going into detail but refrained from challenging the report’s conclusions.

Trump has persistently maintained that the strike conducted on February 28 against Iran, in collaboration with Israel, was justified due to an alleged imminent threat. He has continuously asserted that Iran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon, a claim that lacks broad support from analysts and remains contested amid ongoing diplomatic negotiations.

In a related development, a senior adviser to Gabbard stepped down earlier, asserting that there was no immediate threat and claiming that the president had been misinformed by distorted intelligence and outside influences.

During her testimony, Gabbard acknowledged the extensive damages Iran has incurred as a result of weeks of military actions, including losses within its leadership and military strength. Nevertheless, she affirmed that the Iranian government remains functional.

The US intelligence community assessed that despite the weakening of Iran’s military infrastructure, it remains intact and could potentially pursue a prolonged effort to rebuild its military capacities, encompassing missile and drone development programs.
