A married woman, identified as Sandra, and a mother of five, has been discovered deceased within the home of her male acquaintance, Lucky Isuma, located in the Sabon Gari district of Kano city. The deceased, believed to be from Abia State, was confirmed dead on April 11, 2026, at the premises located at No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari.
According to unverified accounts from neighbours, the woman had requested food shortly before her passing. It was noted that her male friend had gone out to get food at the time of her death.
The spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect, Lucky Isuma, has been taken into custody.
"On April 11, 2026, around 10:30 AM, Chidera Nwobi, a 22-year-old male residing at No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari, reported to the Sabon Gari Police Division. He stated that at approximately 10:00 AM the same day, he found a woman, estimated to be around 30 years old, lying unconscious and motionless on a bed inside the room of his neighbour, Lucky Isuma, a 41-year-old male, at the same address," the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) explained.
He further mentioned that law enforcement officers were promptly dispatched to the scene.
"Photographs were taken of the victim, and no visible signs of physical assault were observed on her body."
Kiyawa confirmed that the victim was transported to Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital for a medical evaluation, where a doctor pronounced her dead.
"The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation," he stated.
"The Command assures the public that a comprehensive investigation will be carried out to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. The findings of this investigation will be publicly disclosed in due course."
