According to officials, officers confronted the suspect, resulting in a gunfire exchange. During the confrontation, a U.S. Secret Service officer was hit by a projectile but was shielded from serious harm by a ballistic vest. The officer was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition and good spirits.
The individual is described by law enforcement as a "lone gunman." While the suspect was not struck by any bullets, they were also transported to a medical facility for assessment following the encounter.
