In a statement released on the social media platform X on February 9, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria emphasized the importance of adhering to visa guidelines to protect travel access for those Nigerians who comply responsibly.

"Visa overstays by Nigerian travellers can affect opportunities for their fellow citizens," the Mission remarked. "Upholding compliance assists in safeguarding access for students, business individuals, and families travelling responsibly."

Additionally, the Mission called on Nigerians to report instances of visa fraud to appropriate authorities through provided email contacts.
