Woman Confronts Man Over Inappropriate Comments After Declining His Advances (Video)

A Nigerian woman identified as Mariam caught the attention of social media after she shared a video of herself confronting a man who she claimed made inappropriate comments about her figure following her rejection of his advances.

Mariam explained that the man had approached her with the term "bae," which she declined. She alleged that after her refusal, he resorted to insulting her and made derogatory remarks regarding her body.

The recorded confrontation occurred at the University of Lagos. In the footage, Mariam, who is passionate about fitness, challenges the man to repeat the comments he made about her. During the exchange, she insulted him and directed harsh words towards his family members as well.

"My nyash be like what? Just because you called me babe and I didn’t respond? What do you mean by that?" she questioned while recording him.

Further provoking him, she stated, "Ode, I look better than your sister, your mother, and all the women in your family."

The man, visibly upset, moved closer and warned her against insulting his mother. He retorted, "We are having a conversation; I didn’t mention your mother. I’ll slap you."

Unfazed, Mariam questioned whether he wanted to hit her and referred to him disrespectfully. Eventually, the man retreated, signaling a peace gesture with his fingers.

Mariam later uploaded the footage to her Instagram account, captioning it with her thoughts: "Because he called me bae and I rejected him, he started hurling insults at me, claiming I should be grateful that he was interested in me. Until I teach men a lesson on the streets…"

She further expressed her frustrations, asserting her autonomy: "I am not an object. I do not owe anyone a reply or a positive response to their advances. If there is a gender war to be had, I am ready to lead it for now; I rest my case."

In another video, she revealed her outfit from the incident and encouraged women to stand up against harassment, emphasizing that only when men face consequences will they learn from their actions.
