Zamfara Governor Appoints Engr. Haruna Dikko as Director-General for Rural Roads Agency

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed Engr. Haruna Dikko as the new Director-General for the State Rural Access Road Agency (RARA). The agency is tasked with enhancing rural infrastructure, especially roads and bridges connecting rural and urban areas.

Governor Dauda Lawal has officially approved the appointment of Engr. Haruna Dikko to lead the Zamfara State Rural Access Road Agency (RARA) as its Director-General.

The State's Secretary to the Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the appointment, highlighting that RARA's core mandate involves improving rural infrastructure, with a particular focus on roads and bridges that connect remote communities to urban centres.

Nakwada further stated that the current administration prioritizes infrastructure development as a key strategy to foster economic growth and bolster security within the state.

The Zamfara State government has also initiated significant rural road projects, including the 108-kilometer Magami–Dansadau road and the 95-kilometer Tsafe–Yankuzo road, among other awarded contracts.

Engr. Dikko brings a wealth of experience as a civil engineer and oil and gas professional, with a strong background in project management, public procurement, and infrastructure development.

His previous public service roles include serving as the Acting Director for Civil Works and as a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

Dikko holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and pursued a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Governor Lawal has tasked the newly appointed Director-General with leveraging his expertise to significantly enhance the state's rural road infrastructure.
