Governor Dauda Lawal is scheduled to engage in a high-profile workshop focused on strategic governance and resilience, which is part of his administration's initiative to foster development in Zamfara State.
The two-day workshop is facilitated by the Centre for Resilient Business and Society, occurring on March 30 and 31, 2026, at Coventry University in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, this workshop enjoys backing from the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) Institutional Support initiative.
Idris elaborated that the event emphasizes a mutual resolve to promote research-led solutions pertinent to governance, resilience, and societal advancement for institutions in Zamfara State.
The announcement indicated that "Governor Lawal will travel to the United Kingdom on Sunday to attend a two-day strategic governance workshop hosted by Coventry University."
The workshop aims to unify scholars, policy makers, and governance specialists from around the globe to examine strategies for creating resilient institutions and tackling social issues through research-driven methodologies.
Key discussions at this workshop will encompass topics such as Resilient Leadership in Dynamic and Resource-Limited Settings, Financial Resilience, Public Sector Innovation, Managing Change, and Ethical Data Utilization in Governance.
Governor Lawal will be accompanied by a distinguished group that includes the Secretary to the State Government, important commissioners, special advisers, and the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA).
During their time at the workshop, the governor and his delegation will engage in a session with postgraduate research students, focusing on "The Role of Research in Policymaking: Driving Strategic and Resilient Governance – Lessons from the Six-Point Rescue Agenda."
This session aims to foster an enriching dialogue on how research can transition from theoretical constructs into impactful policy decisions, using practical insights drawn from the implementation of Zamfara State’s Six-Point Rescue Agenda.
