Zamfara Governor Joins Tinubu's Delegation for UK State Visit

Governor Dauda Lawal has been appointed to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his upcoming state visit to the United Kingdom.

The presidential delegation, which includes the First Lady and other officials, is scheduled to depart from Abuja on Tuesday, commencing the visit.

A statement issued by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, revealed that President Tinubu, along with his wife and other members of the entourage, will be welcomed by King Charles at Windsor Castle, with the visit set for March 18 and 19.

The statement noted, "Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal will accompany President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a significant visit to the United Kingdom on March 18 and 19, 2026."

According to the presidency, the aim of this state visit is to bolster bilateral relations and seek opportunities for collaboration in fields such as immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

During their time at Windsor Castle, the President, First Lady, and their entourage will have the opportunity to tour a special exhibition showcasing Royal Collection items pertaining to Nigeria. Additionally, the Royal Family will host a State Banquet in honor of their Nigerian guests.

While in the UK, President Tinubu is expected to engage with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, culminating in extensive discussions focusing on the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in areas including trade, investment, defense, and cultural cooperation.

President Tinubu will also serve as the guest of honor at the Nigerian Modernism exhibition, which highlights contemporary art and culture. He will participate in a reception with both Nigerian and British business leaders, as well as members of the diaspora community.

This state visit is anticipated to provide Governor Lawal with valuable networking opportunities, presenting significant prospects for investment and economic advantages for Zamfara State.
