Zamfara State Government Conducts Security Meeting Ahead of Sallah Celebrations

The Zamfara State Government convened a significant security meeting with military and paramilitary representatives to discuss measures for ensuring safety during the upcoming Eid-el Fitr celebrations. The Government of Zamfara State has organized a pivotal meeting involving military, paramilitary, and other security agencies to assess the security landscape of the state and implement proactive safety measures ahead of the Eid-el Fitr festivities.

This meeting, led by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government (SSG), Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, acting on behalf of Governor Dauda Lawal, took place on Tuesday in Gusau, the capital of the state.

During this strategic dialogue, representatives from the various security agencies provided the state government with updates on the proactive strategies being established to ensure the safety of residents throughout the celebration period.

The measures being discussed include a considerable deployment of approximately 1,474 personnel from the Police, Civil Defense Corps, Intelligence divisions, Road Safety Officers, and teams responsible for dealing with explosive threats.

These dedicated officials will collaborate with local authorities to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, patrolling, and traffic management, all directed towards preserving public order across the state's 14 local government areas.

In addressing the security officials, the SSG indicated that the meeting was called upon the request of Governor Dauda Lawal with the intent to evaluate security developments within the state and assess preparations for ensuring adequate security presence before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.

The SSG expressed gratitude for the relentless efforts made by security personnel to safeguard the community, offering both support and prayers for their continued success.

He assured attendees that Governor Dauda Lawal is committed to providing all necessary assistance to enhance their operational capabilities, despite existing resource constraints.

Nakwada also appealed to the citizens of Zamfara to maintain a heightened sense of security awareness and actively cooperate with law enforcement agencies, stressing that ensuring safety is a collective responsibility that requires everyone's involvement.

Furthermore, he urged traditional and religious leaders, especially Chief Imams, to amplify messages promoting unity and peaceful cohabitation among the populace.

The SSG took this opportunity to congratulate Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba on his recent advancement to the role of Assistant Inspector- General of Police, wishing him guidance in fulfilling the responsibilities of his new position.

The meeting included the participation of the State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Service, representatives from the 1 Brigade Command, Civil Defense Corps, Road Safety, and other key state government officials.
