Aoi Fujino, a model known for her swimsuit photography, has tragically died at 27, just shortly after she declared her retirement from modeling.
She made her retirement announcement in an emotional post on December 31, expressing her feelings towards her fans.
'In this last message to all my fans, I truly loved you,' she conveyed. 'Thank you for everything so far. Please remember me occasionally. Lol.'
However, just five days later, on January 5, her mother shared the news of her passing after battling a health issue.
'We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported her throughout her life,' she posted on Aoi's Instagram account.
Hailing from Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, Aoi was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as rhabdomyosarcoma three years prior.
The actress and model, recognized for her daring swimsuit and lingerie imagery, had paused her career to prioritize her treatment after the diagnosis.
In August 2024, she resumed work but had to take another break six months later due to ongoing health challenges.
Despite her struggles, she managed to engage with fans at various events throughout 2025.
Before her untimely death, Aoi shared a message with her 70,000 Instagram followers expressing her desire to be remembered fondly.
'As long as I am remembered as a beautiful and vibrant person, I will be incredibly happy and feel so grateful,' she stated.
