Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed satisfaction with the advancements made in the state's agricultural sector during his tenure, detailing achievements in the expansion of cocoa, oil palm, and cashew farming.
This review follows previous assessments of his administration's performance in road and sports infrastructure, underscoring a broad developmental agenda.
The governor revealed that the state's cocoa expansion initiative has seen a significant increase, with 400,000 cocoa seedlings distributed to farmers since 2023. He noted that the subsidized seedling program, launched early in his administration, is crucial for Osun to regain its leading position in cocoa production, surpassing states like Ondo and Cross River.
Adeleke also emphasized Osun State's strategic move to harness the potential of the global creative industry, a sector valued at two trillion dollars. This initiative aims to foster community prosperity and create productive opportunities for the youth.
The governor's focus on the creative sector was further highlighted by his attendance at a recent concert in Osogbo featuring prominent music artists, including his son B-Red. Adeleke described the creative industry as a significant economic resource with immense potential for the state's youth.
He expressed his personal commitment to bolstering the entertainment sector, leveraging his family's strong influence in the Nigerian and international music scene. Adeleke envisions Osun becoming a hub for global entertainment, projecting that an annual concert in the state would stimulate local commerce and elevate local artists.
"Osun is destined to be the hub of global entertainment. We have all the big stars and the network. An annual concert in Osun will boost local commerce and provide upward movement for local artistes," the governor stated.
He urged the organizers to build upon the success of the recent event, with aspirations for an expanded concert format by 2027. Adeleke reiterated his vision for Osun to serve as a central point for the creative industry, not just within the state but across Nigeria.
