In a ceremony held on Monday, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, recognized the exceptional contributions of 64 justice sector employees for their remarkable performance throughout 2025.
Fagbemi praised the staff for their valuable input toward the progress achieved in recent years. He highlighted that the success of institutions hinges on the dedication and commitment of their workforce.
The minister reiterated the ministry's commitment to fostering a culture of ethical conduct within the justice sector.
This commendation occurred during the 2025 Reward and Recognition Ceremony in Abuja.
Fagbemi remarked, “Today, we take a moment out of our official duties to acknowledge the genuine strength of this ministry – our personnel – while reflecting on our shared achievements and reaffirming our pledge to provide excellent service to our nation.
“Institutions thrive not merely on structural frameworks; they prosper due to the dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism displayed by those serving within them.
“This event serves two purposes: it honors exemplary staff who have set themselves apart through innovation and diligence, and it reinforces our determination to establish a culture of ethical practice and measurable performance across all ministry departments and agencies.”
He emphasized that the staff members are a vital force behind every prosecution, law drafted, victim protected, and reform instituted.
The recognition initiative aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25), Ministerial Deliverables, and the National Policy on Justice.
According to him, these guidelines encourage a departure from routine administration towards a results-oriented governance model aimed at strengthening the rule of law and enhancing the well-being of Nigerians.
He stated, “Over the past year, our ministry and its affiliated agencies have displayed extraordinary resilience, aligning operations with national objectives and rooting a culture of results within the entire justice value chain.
“Our digital transformation has notably accelerated, especially with the rollout of the Electronic Content Management System (ECMS), which was inaugurated on December 18, 2025.
“Additionally, we have registered significant advances in prosecutions, tackling corruption and terrorism, improving access to justice, and safeguarding human rights.
“It is crucial to note that none of these accomplishments would have been achievable without the unwavering dedication of our legal officers, administrators, researchers, and support personnel, whose consistent efforts uphold the justice system.”
Earlier, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the ministry, described the awardees as individuals who went above and beyond their duties, exhibiting both courage and a deep sense of responsibility towards public trust.
She stated that this initiative reinforces the culture of merit and accountability within the justice sector, urging everyone to remain steadfast in overcoming institutional and sectoral challenges while committing to uphold the rule of law and delivering services that inspire public confidence.
In her welcome address, Mabel Erastus, Director of Human Resources Management, mentioned that this action was part of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation's (OHCSF) strategy to motivate the workforce aimed at enhancing service delivery.
The 64 award recipients came from various levels of service at the ministry's headquarters, zonal offices, and agencies, including the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and other notable legal institutions.
