The All Progressives Congress (APC) has conveyed its strong belief in the thoroughness of its preparations for the upcoming 2026 National Convention, assuring all party members and stakeholders that the event will proceed smoothly and with significant coordination.

Mary Ikoku, speaking on behalf of the party's media and publicity committee in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Saturday, indicated that comprehensive planning frameworks are now in place to guarantee the convention's success. She noted that a multitude of committees and subcommittees have been established and are actively engaged in meetings, with many having already conducted their initial sessions.

According to Ikoku, the current activities across these various groups underscore a unified approach aimed at delivering what she termed a "hitch- free convention."

She further elaborated on the active participation of state governors, highlighting their strategic and supportive roles. Ikoku mentioned that the governors have implemented measures to ensure that delegates travelling from other states receive adequate care, demonstrating a profound commitment to the party's objectives.

The implementation of liaison committees, responsible for managing and coordinating overlapping duties among different teams, has been identified as a crucial element of the planning process. Ikoku explained that these liaison units are instrumental in addressing complex, cross-functional issues and maintaining equilibrium, thereby minimizing potential disruptions during the convention.

Regarding the convention's structure, Ikoku detailed that the inaugural day will be dedicated to accreditation, with a dedicated committee overseeing the verification of delegates and stakeholders from across the nation. Other committees, such as those for accommodation and venue management, have been fully activated to manage essential logistics, including delegate housing and site readiness for the convention.

Ikoku also pointed to enhancements in organizational coordination, citing the operational status of a central working committee and the establishment of dedicated secretariats for the various planning teams. She added that daily reviews and consistent monitoring are being conducted through checklists to ensure all planning aspects remain on schedule.

"One other thing that we have going for us in this year’s convention is that we have a central theme and we have a brand identity that is being captured across the various committees. So there is uniformity. And then as we push the message of unity, stability and progress for our party, you’re also seeing that being worked within the confines of the committees, the various committees of this convention," Ikoku stated.

While acknowledging that no large-scale event is entirely devoid of challenges, she expressed confidence in the current level of readiness. "Would it be 100% hitch-free? I envisage that nothing is ever perfect. However, we’re doing our best as a party to ensure that we have very minimal, if at all there will be any," she commented.

Concluding, Ikoku reaffirmed the party's stance, stating, "Things have been put in place to ensure we have a hitch-free National Convention 2026."
