Jabiru Tsauri, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of AUDA- NEPAD Nigeria, has officially promised substantial institutional backing for the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy. He highlighted the event's potential to significantly boost Nigeria's sports diplomacy and contribute to economic growth.
Tsauri made this commitment during a courtesy visit in Abuja from the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), led by its President, Lami Ahmed. He characterized the upcoming tournament as a prime occasion for Nigeria to enhance its continental standing while utilizing sports to foster economic development and regional unity.
"I am pleased to welcome the LGAN delegation. Their objectives are in sync with national development priorities, and we will offer the necessary support," Tsauri stated. He also stressed the importance of investing in women's golf, noting that the progress of female athletes and administrators is crucial for elevating Nigeria's profile in the global sports arena.
Furthermore, Tsauri commended LGAN for successfully securing the hosting rights for the event, describing it as a noteworthy accomplishment for the nation.
"Nigeria possesses the capability, the population, and the hospitality to host more than 30 African countries. We will demonstrate our national unity and leadership role on the continent through this championship," Tsauri added.
Earlier, Ahmed had explained that the purpose of their visit was to establish a strategic partnership with AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, aiming to ensure the successful execution of the tournament.
"We are here not only as sports officials but as patriots dedicated to national prestige and fostering African unity through sports," Ahmed remarked.
She also announced that Nigeria is set to host the championship from November 1 to November 7, under the theme 'Uniting Africa Through the Greens,' underscoring Nigeria's dedication to continental cooperation via sports.
