Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has shared the pivotal instructions given by coach Rob Edwards that spurred Wolverhampton Wanderers’ late comeback during the 2–2 draw against Brentford FC.

Substituted in during the 75th minute as Wolves sought to turn the match around, Arokodare made an immediate impact, scoring the equalising goal only three minutes after entering the fray, capping a remarkable fightback from a two-goal deficit.

Arokodare started the game on the bench, while Wolves struggled to establish their flow after conceding an early goal. He was introduced to replace Jean- Ricner Bellegarde as Wolves increased their attacking pressure in search of a goal.

His introduction proved to be crucial when he connected with a precise delivery from João Gomes, directing a header past goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher to level the score dramatically.

After the match, Arokodare revealed the direct message from his manager that guided his actions on the pitch. “He said I should go and try to score because we are creating a lot of opportunities and needed someone to be present in the box,” Arokodare told Sky Sports. “I’m delighted I was able to fulfill that role.”

This instruction to assert his physical presence during set-pieces became key as Wolves took advantage of their aerial capabilities in the match's closing moments.

Arokodare nearly clinched a winner shortly after his equaliser when he elevated above the defence to meet a dangerous cross from Jackson Tchatchoua, but his powerful header hit the crossbar, denying him a chance at heroics.

Reflecting on that near miss, he remarked, “It was a great delivery from Tchatchoua, but I was a bit unlucky hitting the post. He also hit the bar later. It would have been fantastic if we had converted those chances, but we accept the point after trailing 2-0 at first.”

In the earlier stages of the match, Brentford demonstrated dominance, with Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago both scoring to secure a comfortable lead by the end of the first half, exposing some defensive lapses from Wolves.

However, Wolves regained some momentum before halftime when Adam Armstrong found the net, setting the stage for Arokodare’s impactful substitution and ultimately salvaging a point for his team.

The equalising goal represented Arokodare’s third for Wolverhampton in the Premier League since his transfer from KRC Genk earlier in the summer. As he adapts to the rigours of English football, he is increasingly proving himself as a valuable asset capable of altering games in crucial moments.

This comeback demonstrates Wolves' resilience, while Arokodare's performance sends a clear message: he can deliver when called upon.
