Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria Honours Governor Lawal with Infrastructure Governor Award

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has been recognized with the prestigious 'Infrastructure Governor of the Year' award by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON). The honour was conferred during the second Nigeria Broadcasting Awards, which took place at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.

A statement released by the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, highlighted that the award serves as a testament to the current administration's substantial progress in enhancing urban renewal and infrastructure across Zamfara.

The selection committee reportedly pointed to numerous factors behind Governor Lawal's selection, specifically mentioning the transformative development witnessed in Gusau, the state capital, and its elevation into a modern city. The committee’s assessment recognised his administration's significant achievements in various sectors.

BON indicated that its selection process spanned several months, with the aim of identifying and celebrating professional excellence while simultaneously working to elevate media practice standards throughout Nigeria.

The statement further detailed that Zamfara has achieved "unprecedented milestones," which include the construction of an international airport, the renovation of general hospitals, and the establishment and equipping of over 800 schools across all 14 local government areas of the state.

It was also noted that this recognition from Nigeria's leading broadcasting body would serve as a powerful encouragement for the governor to intensify his efforts in fulfilling his commitment to serving and rebuilding Zamfara State.

Other notable individuals and governors also received accolades at the event, including Governors Bassey Otu of Cross River and Uba Sani of Kaduna, alongside Information Minister Mohammed Idris, and media personalities like John Momoh and Shyngle Wigwe.
