Businessman Murdered, Pregnant Wife Abducted by Bandits in Kebbi

Bandits have attacked the Badariya area within Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, leading to the murder of a businessman named Sufiyanu Garba and the kidnapping of his pregnant spouse.

According to Shehu Mohammed Yauri, the elder brother of the kidnapped woman, the assailants invaded their home during the early morning hours on Friday. They shot Sufiyanu dead before taking away his wife, Zainab, to an undisclosed location.

Yauri confirmed that Zainab, who is expecting, was abducted shortly after her husband's killing.

Bashir Usman, the Public Relations Officer for the Kebbi State Police Command, verified the occurrence, stating that authorities are now investigating the case.

He noted that the act resulted in the loss of Sufiyanu, a 35-year-old man, while his wife was taken by the attackers.

According to Usman, detectives from the police have visited the crime scene to gather evidence and initiated a thorough investigation. "A police checkpoint is situated close to where the incident occurred. Therefore, residents could have alerted the police for a swift response," he stated.

The assailant's attack culminated in the death of the victim, after which he was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical professional. His body has been placed in the hospital mortuary.

Usman indicated that the Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead the inquiry, with a focus on rescuing the abducted woman and ensuring that those responsible face justice.
