Chelsea has secured their spot in the FA Cup semi-finals, easing the pressure on head coach Liam Rosenior following a resounding 7–0 triumph over Port Vale at Stamford Bridge.
Facing a run of disappointing results including Premier League losses and a significant defeat in the Champions League, the Blues demonstrated a strong response against lower-league opposition, keeping their hopes of winning a trophy alive.
From the outset, Chelsea established their dominance, finding the net just 64 seconds into the match. Jorrel Hato was alert to a loose ball after a clearance attempt by Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Gauci, and he managed to score through a packed penalty area.
The lead was extended midway through the first half when João Pedro displayed great composure. He received a cross from Pedro Neto, turned, and expertly finished into the net. Chelsea further solidified their position before halftime, with Cole Palmer scoring from close range after Malo Gusto’s shot was parried.
With the outcome of the match largely decided, Chelsea continued their attacking push in the second half. Tosin Adarabioyo increased the lead with a powerful header, followed by goals from Andrey Santos and Estêvão, widening the margin.
Estêvão, returning from injury, had previously hit the woodwork but ultimately marked his performance with a well-taken goal, highlighting Chelsea’s offensive capabilities.
Alejandro Garnacho completed the rout by converting a penalty, sealing the impressive victory for the team.
This decisive win provides Chelsea with a much-needed morale boost during a challenging season, as the team now prepares for a critical sequence of matches and a trip to Wembley.
