Southampton secured a late 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter- finals, eliminating the Gunners from the competition. The match, held at St. Mary's stadium, saw the home side capitalize on Arsenal's uninspired performance.

Mikel Arteta's squad controlled possession for large periods but appeared lethargic, allowing Southampton to seize opportunities. The Saints took the lead in the 35th minute through Ross Stewart, who found the net following a defensive error by Arsenal's Ben White.

Arsenal managed to find an equalizer in the 68th minute when striker Viktor Gyokores converted a pass from Kai Havertz. Despite creating further chances, the London club's defensive lapses proved costly.

Shea Charles scored the decisive goal for Southampton five minutes before the end of the match, finding the bottom corner with a low shot, much to the dismay of the visiting team.

With this win, Southampton advances to the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2021 and extends their unbeaten run to fifteen games. This outcome marks another disappointment for Arsenal in cup competitions this season, adding to their earlier Carabao Cup final loss and dashing their hopes of a quadruple.

The Gunners' failure to reach the FA Cup semi-final stage means they have now missed out on a place at Wembley for six consecutive seasons.
