Renowned football star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to undergo urgent medical assessments following a muscle injury incurred during Al Nassr's 3-1 win over Al-Fayha on Sunday.
The 41-year-old forward missed a penalty in the game and had to exit the pitch with under 10 minutes remaining after indicating to the bench that he was experiencing discomfort.
Ronaldo struggled as he made his way off the field, later observed sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his leg for the duration of the match.
The injury situation has raised alarm among Portuguese supporters concerning the fitness of their key player, with the World Cup just three months away.
Al-Nassr's manager Jorge Jesus commented, 'Ronaldo has encountered muscle fatigue, and our medical team will promptly perform the necessary evaluations to determine his condition.'
Earlier in the match, Ronaldo had a chance to score and provide Al-Nassr with an early advantage in the 12th minute, following a foul against his teammate, Mohamed Simakan.
This marks the 35th penalty miss for the celebrated player, who now stands 35 goals shy of achieving the 1,000-goal milestone in his illustrious career.
Notably, Ronaldo has successfully converted 181 penalties, showcasing a relatively low miss rate of 16.2 percent from a total of 216 attempts.
