Emmanuel Ogidi, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee for the South South, has stated that reconciliation is of utmost importance for the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He urged aggrieved members to place the unity and survival of the party ahead of their individual interests.

This call for unity follows the recent National Convention of the PDP and the subsequent inauguration of the NWC.

In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Monday, Ogidi discussed the newly established NWC of the party, saying, "Reconciliation is our top priority. The new NWC, under the leadership of the National Chairman, is actively reaching out. We cannot afford to alienate anyone. For those with pending court cases, we appeal to their sense of party loyalty. While politics often revolves around interests, these interests must align with the party's survival. We are forming strong reconciliation committees at various levels to ensure that every discontented voice is acknowledged and addressed."

Ogidi also highlighted the successful execution of the convention as evidence of a united front within the party to ensure progress. He remarked, "The secret to our success was simply the collective determination to get it right this time. We've faced numerous challenges, and every party member—from leadership to grassroots—understood that if we did not unite now, we risked losing necessary momentum for the future. The convention was characterized by transparency, and even those who had reservations participated in discussions. It centered on compromise and collective interests over personal ambitions."

When asked about criticisms regarding the party’s previous record, Ogidi noted that Nigerians now have the opportunity to evaluate the country’s state under the PDP in comparison to the current administration led by the APC.

"It is easy to assign blame, but Nigerians can now make comparisons. Consider the economy, security issues, and the overall state of the nation today compared to the past. We do not claim to have been flawless, but we did have a clear direction. We fostered economic growth and strengthened institutions. Our current focus is on learning from past mistakes while introducing innovative ideas,"

Ogidi asserted.

He further emphasized that the new NWC integrates both seasoned experience and fresh perspectives aimed at yielding results for Nigerians. "The new NWC represents a mix of experienced and newly energized members. Nigerians are weary of excuses; they demand results, and the PDP stands ready to deliver,"

he stated.

Addressing inquiries about zoning, Ogidi reaffirmed that such arrangements are constitutionally enshrined within the PDP to promote fairness and balance. He mentioned, "Zoning is a constitutional issue in our party designed to ensure equity. Although discussions are ongoing, the primary objective is to identify a candidate capable of winning and leading effectively. We are a democratic party and will adhere to established protocols as outlined in our guidelines. Currently, our focus is on constructing a robust framework that can support whoever emerges as our candidate."

In delivering a message to the party's supporters, Ogidi urged PDP members to remain loyal and committed, emphasizing the renewed unity within the party. He concluded, "My message is straightforward: the PDP is revitalized and stronger than before. This convention demonstrated our ability to organize and lead effectively. We are more united than ever. To our supporters, let’s remain focused and loyal to our party. The journey has just begun, and collectively, we will work to restore and rebuild Nigeria."
