emPLE, one of Nigeria’s burgeoning insurance firms, has announced a significant partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMOH) and Bastion Health. This collaboration is aimed at honoring International Women’s Day 2026 through the 'emPOWERHer' initiative. The goal of this health drive is to enhance preventive healthcare services available to women and their children.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, this initiative will occur at emPLE’s headquarters situated on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. The program aims to bring together public and private stakeholders to provide complimentary health screenings, vaccinations, and wellness activities, advocating for proactive health measures among women.
As part of the collaboration, LSMOH will facilitate specialized medical services that include screenings for cervical and breast cancer, in addition to offering free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations to girls aged 9 to 14. Bastion Health will be responsible for conducting routine health examinations such as hypertension screenings, blood sugar assessments, and Body Mass Index (BMI) evaluations.
The day’s program will commence with a health awareness walk leading from emPLE’s main office at Akin Adesola, proceeding to Ozumba Mbadiwe and Muri Okunola Junction, and back again, symbolizing a united front for women’s health. This will be followed by a cardio and fitness session, accompanied by comprehensive health screenings.
In a statement regarding the initiative, Olalekan Oyinlade, Managing Director/CEO of emPLE General Insurance, remarked, “International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder that the welfare of women necessitates actionable measures. Through our emPOWERHer initiative and in partnership with Lagos State and Bastion Health, we aim to eliminate obstacles to early detection and prevention by delivering essential services within reach of the community.”
Additionally, Jolaolu Fakoya, Acting Managing Director/CEO of emPLE Life Assurance, emphasized that, “Access to timely screenings and reliable health information significantly improves health outcomes for families and future generations. The emPOWERHer campaign showcases our dedication to empowering Nigerians—especially women—to be proactive about their health.”
The initiative receives support from Sosa Fruit Drinks, which will supply refreshing beverages for participants.
The day’s activities will encompass an awareness walk, cardio and fitness exercises, breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings, hypertension tests, blood sugar evaluations, BMI assessments, and free HPV vaccinations for girls.
Kicking off at 8:00 a.m. at emPLE’s headquarters located at Plot 1297 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, the event will be open to women and families seeking quality preventive healthcare services.
