Falconets' captain, Joy Igbokwe, has conveyed her unwavering confidence ahead of Nigeria's vital match against Senegal in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

The encounter will occur at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Saturday, February 7.

Igbokwe emphasized that the Falconets are fully committed to securing another World Cup appearance, highlighting the team's consistent performance on the international stage as a motivator on their path to Poland 2026.

"Our goal is to qualify for the World Cup once more, and I don’t believe Senegal will stand in our way, though we are not taking them lightly," Igbokwe stated in an interview with Completesports.com.

She underscored the significant effort the team has put forth to reach this point, insisting that they will not waste their hard work.

"We have dedicated a lot of time and effort to get here, and we cannot lose focus now. It's crucial that we do not let down our supporters, who have shown us tremendous confidence and backing," she added.

The captain also made an appeal for fans to come out in large numbers to support the team, similar to their previous fixtures.

Nigeria progressed to this stage after a commanding 4-0 aggregate win over Rwanda, while Senegal advanced by narrowly defeating Algeria.

The aggregate winner from this matchup will advance to the final qualifying round, where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi for a chance to qualify for the Poland 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
