First Lady of Bauchi State Visits Hospitalized Journalists

Aishatu Bala Mohammed, the First Lady of Bauchi State, showed support to injured journalists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital following their involvement in a road accident while on duty. Her visit came a week after Governor Bala Mohammed visited the victims.

Aishatu Bala Mohammed, the wife of the Governor of Bauchi State, recently visited the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi. During her visit, she expressed sympathy towards journalists who suffered injuries in a recent road accident while they were performing their professional duties in the state.

In a statement released by her spokesperson, Zainab Garba Musa, the First Lady conveyed her sorrow regarding the unfortunate accident and extended her wishes for a swift and full recovery to the affected journalists.

This visit by the Bauchi First Lady occurred shortly after Governor Bala Mohammed had visited the injured journalists the previous weekend. The Bauchi State Government has taken responsibility for covering the medical expenses of the journalists affected by the incident, which took place on a Friday. Reports indicate that most of the injured journalists have since been treated and discharged from the hospital.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Mrs. Aishatu Mohammed conveyed her heartfelt concern about the incident, hoping for the journalists' quick recovery. She praised the commitment and sacrifices made by media professionals in the state to keep the public informed.

Furthermore, she assured both the patients and the hospital management of her continued prayers and support, encouraging them to remain hopeful and strong during their recovery.

The journalists involved in the accident included reporters from ARISE TV, Channels Television, African Independent Television (AIT), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), as well as members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, and staff from the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV) and the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC).

The unfortunate incident occurred along the Bauchi-Yelwan Duguri Road while the journalists were covering the inauguration of projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), alongside the Minister of State for Regional Development and the Managing Director of the NEDC. A statement from the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the state governor, Mukhtar Gidado, clarified that there were no fatalities as a result of the accident.
