A Ford employee has faced suspension following an insulting remark made towards U.S. President Donald Trump during a factory visit. Reports from various news outlets, including the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, confirm that T.J. Sabula, 40, has been placed on leave due to the incident.
During Trump's visit to the production site of the Ford F-150 pickup truck in Dearborn, Michigan, Sabula yelled the phrase "pedophile protector" at the President. In response, Trump turned in the direction of the disruption and raised his middle finger in a crude gesture. He was also seen appearing to shout an explicit phrase twice.
Some observers have suggested that this incident may be reflective of broader frustrations regarding the Trump administration's response to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
While under suspension pending an inquiry, Sabula expressed that he feels no remorse for his actions, voicing concerns about his job security. He commented, "I feel targeted for political retaliation for embarrassing President Trump."
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has shown its support for Sabula. Laura Dicerson, the Vice President of the UAW Ford Department, stated, "Sabula believes in the right to free speech, which is a principle we wholeheartedly endorse. We will advocate for our members to maintain their voices on the workplace floor."
