Hon. Shehu Bawa ABG, who served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015, has articulated his reason for vying for the governorship of Kaduna State in the upcoming 2027 elections. He believes the state has the capability to achieve much greater success with effective leadership.
ABG stated that his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is motivated by his conviction that only through strong executive leadership can meaningful changes be realized in Kaduna.
In a conversation with Daily Trust, he shared that his involvement in politics continued after his tenure in the National Assembly, leading him to seek the governorship position.
He highlighted that there is significant political backing for the PDP within Kaduna State, and the party has a commendable track record in previous elections.
“Historical election results demonstrate that the PDP has performed admirably over the years. A comparison of presidential and gubernatorial outcomes reveals a difference of approximately 115,000 to 150,000 votes, which is a considerable margin,” he noted.
ABG also pointed out that this discrepancy could be attributed to voter apathy and urged the public to engage actively in the electoral process and safeguard their votes.
“There is a prevalent mindset among some voters who feel discouraged, thinking that the election outcome is predetermined regardless of their votes. We must reject this notion fervently,” he emphasized.
He further mentioned that his political initiatives have taken him across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, where he has been motivating citizens to actively participate in the democratic system.
