Robert Nkemdiche, known for his time as a first-round selection in the NFL, was taken into custody last week in Georgia following allegations that he attempted to conceal groceries within his apparel.

According to details from a police report referenced by TMZ Sports, law enforcement encountered the ex-defensive tackle of the Arizona Cardinals while patrolling a business area and noticed him leaving a Kroger supermarket.

An officer observed the 31-year-old carrying “numerous large objects with square and rectangular forms, indicative of hidden grocery items, within his sweatpants.”

As Nkemdiche proceeded toward a nearby gas station, the officer requested additional backup. The report indicated that when officers engaged with the 6-foot-3, 300-pound athlete, he was swiftly placed in double-locked handcuffs.

Upon detainment, the officers found that the items had been removed from his pants, but they later discovered frozen groceries, candy bars, and almond milk strewn across the parking lots of both the Kroger store and the adjacent gas station.

The police returned to the Kroger to determine if any theft had occurred. A representative from the store allegedly informed the police that they did not want to pursue charges over the groceries but asked that Nkemdiche be banned from the premises.

Upon checking Nkemdiche’s identity, officers uncovered several outstanding warrants in different states, three of which were in Georgia. Authorities subsequently asked for his arrest, leading to his booking based on these warrants.

Nkemdiche, who had previously played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels, has faced earlier legal troubles. In 2015, he encountered police during a drug possession incident following an event where it was reported he fell from a hotel’s fourth-floor window. According to reports, the perishable grocery items retrieved from the parking area were disposed of by the authorities.
