In Cross River State, law enforcement officials have apprehended Okoi Obono- Obla, a former legal adviser to the presidency, amidst allegations of forgery related to his professional credentials and unlawful entry into the legal profession.

Mr. Obono-Obla, who previously held the position of Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari and was in charge of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, was taken into custody on Thursday.

The police spokesperson, Eitokpah Sunday, declared that the arrest was realized following a formal complaint made to the state police commissioner, as reported by Punch Newspaper.

The police dismissed rumors of his abduction, clarifying that the arrest was executed lawfully. The statement noted, “The Cross River State Police Command wishes to clarify misleading reports alleging that Mr. Obono-Obla was kidnapped in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area.
