Godwin Okoko Clinches Pro Title at Ebaretonbofa @50 Golf Tournament

Godwin Okoko claimed victory in the professional category of the Stephen Ebaretonbofa 50th Birthday Pro/Am Golf Tournament at the Benin Golf Club, Edo State. His impressive gross score of 141 put him ahead of his closest competitor, Francis Epe.

At the Stephen Ebaretonbofa 50th Birthday Pro/Am Golf Tournament held at the Benin Golf Club in Edo State, 21-year-old Godwin Okoko emerged the champion in the professional category.

The tournament, concluded with results announced on Sunday night, saw Okoko achieving a gross score of 141, which secured him first position, leaving Francis Epe in second place with a score of 144. Both Collins Odile and Sunday Olopade tied for third place, each with a gross total of 149.

In the Senior Tour category, Donatus Isuku took home the top prize with a gross score of 158, followed closely by Victor Enaigbe, who finished with a score of 163.

Dr Emmanuel Ighodaro claimed victory in the men's handicap 0–12 division, achieving a net score of 70, while Jude Igbinadolor secured second at 73 net, and Felix Utaji placed third with a score of 74. Osazee Iyare was noted for having the best gross score in this category with an 80.

In the men’s handicap 13–18 category, Gordon Imadiyi triumphed with a net score of 76, while Ehi Akpata was second with 78 net, and former captain Dr Charles Ajayi ended third with a score of 79. Osayi Eghosa topped the handicap 19–28 category, outpacing Hon. John Yakubu and Reuben Mgbodi.

The ladies’ handicap 0–28 category was clinched by Ehis Igbinadolor, who achieved a net score of 74. Former lady captains Nkeiruka Awiaka and Deborah Otabor followed in second and third places, respectively, while Maryann Shaibu was recognized for the best gross score of 94.

In a separate division for ladies with handicap 29–36, Tinyan Otuomagie emerged first with a net score of 71. Queen Aigbokhaode and Paula Oghumah placed second and third, respectively. Omosefe Osaghae secured the ladies’ veterans prize, outperforming Oseluese Dawodu.

Kingsley Okunbor, the chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his satisfaction with the event, emphasizing its success in celebrating Captain Engr. Stephen Ebaretonbofa’s 50th birthday and its role in promoting golf's development within the Benin Club Golf Section while fostering unity among competitors.

The week-long tournament, which wrapped up on Saturday, attracted over 250 golfers, both professional and amateur, showcasing exemplary skills and sportsmanship. The festivities also included a gala dinner in honor of Ebaretonbofa, attended by friends, family, and golfing peers.
