As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations came to a close, Goldberg Lager Beer wrapped up its tournament experience filled with pride, appreciation, and renewed hope for Nigerian football's prospects.

The Super Eagles secured the bronze medal by overcoming Egypt in a penalty shootout during the third-place match, representing Nigeria’s ninth third- place result in the history of the AFCON finals.

This outcome further cemented Nigeria’s longstanding presence in the continental championships, with the Super Eagles recording the most podium finishes in the event's history.

While the goal of clinching a fourth AFCON title remained elusive, the official beer sponsor of the national team highlighted that the Super Eagles' journey should be celebrated beyond mere rankings, emphasizing traits such as resilience and consistency displayed throughout the tournament.

Through its campaign titled “Our Beat, Our Gold,” Goldberg engaged with fans across Nigeria and the host cities in Morocco, organizing fan-centric events on match days, while viewing centers and brand-driven promotions were present during the games.

On the field, the Super Eagles showcased impressive statistics, including being the highest scorers in the tournament with a total of 14 goals. They also ranked first in terms of clear goal-scoring opportunities created (27) and maintained an impressive 66 percent possession rate while achieving the longest consecutive win streak of the tournament with five victories.

Goldberg noted that these statistics demonstrated a team playing with both confidence and offensive intent.

Laolu Babalola, the Portfolio Manager for Mainstream Lager Brands at Nigerian Breweries Plc, commented that the AFCON 2025 experience transcended simple wins or losses.

“Our aim was to believe in gold, and even though we didn’t capture the ultimate prize, the significance of the journey remained valuable,” stated Mr. Babalola. “The Super Eagles exhibited confidence and purpose, a sentiment that resonated deeply with the fans who responded with enthusiasm and loyalty. That connection was the foundation of this campaign.”

Kunle Aroyehun, Goldberg's Senior Brand Manager, reflected on the opportunity the tournament provided to examine how Nigerians connect with football.

“Our Beat, Our Gold encapsulated the shared experience of Nigerians united through football,” he explained. “From the opening match to the last, fans displayed energy, conviction, and pride. The bronze medal adds to Nigeria’s illustrious AFCON history, but notably highlights the strength of our football culture.”

He added that Goldberg would persist in its commitment to support initiatives related to football, emphasizing fan engagement as a core aspect of the brand’s mission.

“This campaign may be concluding, but the spirit persists. As long as Nigerians continue to enjoy football, engage in discussions, celebrate wins, and foster belief, Goldberg will remain alongside them.”
