The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun , has issued a clarification regarding misleading reports that have been circulating about a confrontation with the Council of Afobajes about the Awujale selection process. The official stance is that such claims are entirely false and misleading.

Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Abiodun, stated that the governor conducted a respectful consultative meeting with the Council of Afobajes, which is in line with prior discussions he had with the Olori Ebis that were previously divided and have since been reconciled. He indicated that through these earlier interactions, he successfully convinced one of the kingmakers to withdraw a pending lawsuit. He further explained the nature of the discussions that took place during the meeting:

"The discussions were centered on topics of mutual concern aimed at promoting progress in traditional matters within Ijebuland."

"In contrast to the rumors, Governor Abiodun did not make any threats or impose ultimatums. Any statements attributed to him, including ‘No Kuye, No Awujale,’ are entirely fabricated and have no association with the governor or his office. No Afobaje can confirm such an occurrence as it simply did not happen. These rumors are yet another instance of mischief-making."

"The governor remains dedicated to adhering to due process, honoring the independence of traditional institutions, and ensuring a just approach in appointing a new Awujale for Ijebu. His administration continually prioritizes dialogue, harmony, and the safeguarding of cultural values."

"It is well-known how much the governor respects the Awujale throne, which he has indicated consistently. The public, traditional stakeholders, and the media are requested to dismiss these unfounded insinuations and rely exclusively on verified information from official channels.
