Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has called upon the recently appointed commissioners to dedicate themselves to serving the citizens of Rivers effectively.
This appeal came during the swearing-in ceremony of the first group of five commissioners held in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The governor expressed confidence that the commissioners have already illustrated their readiness to take on their new roles, having successfully completed one of the most exhaustive screening processes administered by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
He mentioned that during the screening, the lawmakers had clearly laid out the roles and expectations for these officials.
"I believe that undergoing such a rigorous screening process indicates that those among you who have succeeded are qualified and prepared to contribute positively to our beloved state," he remarked.
“There is no additional charge to give. The screening was the charge itself. I wish you success as I anticipate nothing less than excellence from you,” he added.
The five commissioners inaugurated include Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amairigha Edward Hart.
The Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office were administered by David Ihua- Maduenyi, who serves as the chief registrar of the High Court of Rivers State.
As of March 11, the new commissioners have yet to be assigned specific ministries.
