Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has publicly stated that he would prefer death to betraying his political mentor, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, the Minister of Police Affairs.
This remark was made during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Congress at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, the capital of the state.
Buni, who previously worked as the Special Adviser on Political Matters under Geidam's administration before his appointment as the National Secretary of the APC, emphasized that his political journey is anchored on trust and affirmed that betrayal is not part of his character.
"I would rather die than betray him. I remain deeply grateful to him for the role he played in my political journey. I will never forget where I am coming from and will never abandon the man who trusted and supported me. I will not betray the confidence placed in me by my predecessor, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, and the citizens of Yobe State," he declared.
He further remarked, "I am a product of trust. I have never betrayed anyone; that is not in my record. I want to be remembered as someone who never betrays others."
Governor Buni urged the newly elected State Executive Committee (EXCO) members to embrace the ideals of loyalty, unity, and dedicated service to both the party and the state.
Engineer Dr. Muttaka Rabe Darma, Chairman of the APC State Electoral Committee, reported that the new executive members were chosen through a consensus process. He elaborated that the consensus approach was adopted following extensive discussions and was unanimously supported by the delegates.
