Businessman Isaac Fayose has suggested that the perceived aggressiveness of Nigerian security operatives stems from their inadequate remuneration. Fayose, who is currently in Cape Town, South Africa, shared his views in a video posted on his Instagram page.

He asserted that a soldier in South Africa receives a basic monthly salary of roughly N2 million. In contrast, he claimed that a soldier in Nigeria earns a total of N2 million for an entire year.

Fayose further contended that this disparity in earnings is the root cause of the "aggressive" behaviour often exhibited by Nigerian security personnel in their interactions with the public and amongst themselves.

His comments come in the wake of a widely circulated video showing naval and army officers engaged in a physical altercation during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's visit to Bayelsa State on Friday, April 10.

"The reason why they are fighting each other is because they are frustrated and they are underpaid," Fayose stated in his video, linking the internal conflict among security forces to their financial circumstances.
