The statement from the military confirmed the action, "The IDF carried out a strike in the Beirut area and killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, who served as the personal secretary and was the nephew of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem."

An update was later issued to clarify that the individual killed was Naim Qassem's nephew, correcting earlier reports that might have suggested Naim Qassem himself was targeted.
