Chuka Iwobi, the father of footballer Alex Iwobi, has rejected claims indicating that his son was victimized in a brutal burglary, terming the reports completely inaccurate.
In a statement made by former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh, Chuka Iwobi dispelled rumors that his son faced a knifepoint threat during a break- in at his home.
"I just spoke to Chuka Iwobi, and he confirmed that there is absolutely no truth to reports that his son @alexiwobi was burgled," Udoh shared on social media.
Citing Iwobi's father directly, he reiterated: "Alex is fine, and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for international friendlies. It's frustrating that someone would create such a lie for mere clicks. I've been flooded with calls and messages from friends concerned about this made-up story."
The clarification comes amidst earlier reports alleging that the Nigerian international had been assaulted by armed criminals at his residence, who purportedly had stolen items such as watches, jewelry, mobile devices, a laptop, and substantial cash amounts.
Some sources even claimed the total worth of the stolen goods might have reached £500,000, suggesting that law enforcement was looking into the reported incident.
However, the recent input from the Iwobi family has effectively contradicted these claims, certifying that no such event took place.
Football fans can take comfort knowing that the midfielder has traveled to Turkey for international matches, alleviating any apprehensions regarding his safety following the unfounded reports.
