Samaila Abdu Suleiman, a former member of the House of Representatives, has clarified that his decision to resign from his position as Counselor on Infrastructure in Kaduna State was a strategic move aimed at facilitating his candidacy in the upcoming elections.
Suleiman, who once represented the Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly prior to his appointment by Uba Sani, formally submitted his resignation in a letter dated March 2, 2026, addressed to the Secretary to the State Government.
"I hereby resign my appointment as Counselor on Infrastructure, with immediate effect," he stated in the letter, indicating that he would make sure to properly hand over all official assets in line with public service regulations.
After confirming the validity of his resignation, the former lawmaker emphasized that his choice was based on the stipulations of the Electoral Act.
Having served for multiple terms in the House of Representatives, Suleiman transitioned to his role as Counselor on Infrastructure after losing the 2023 elections. He noted that he performed his duties to the best of his abilities before choosing to chase his next political goal.
