A housewife identified as Zayya Magaji, residing in Danbango village, Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, has been ordered into remand by a Magistrates Court sitting in Kano. The directive came from the state prosecutor, Barrister Muhammad Aliyu, who presented the case.
The court registrar, Nafiu Sani, read the charges to the accused. The prosecution contended that Magaji is accused of intentionally causing the demise of her stepson, who was only three days old, by allegedly administering poison.
Despite the accusations, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty.
The prosecutor informed the court that the case file had been transmitted to the State Ministry of Justice for the necessary legal counsel.
Justice Auwal Yusuf, who presided over the proceedings, approved the request for an adjournment and mandated that the accused remain in custody. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 29 to continue the proceedings.
