A woman from Kano named Hafsatu Yusuf has successfully delivered quintuplets at the Murtala Specialist Hospital.
Her husband, Malam Salisu Nafiu, confirmed that the five children—three boys and two girls—were born around 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
Nafiu, who works as a tricycle rider, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God for the safe delivery, stating that both the mother and their five newborns are in excellent health.
This marks the ninth birth for Hafsatu Yusuf.
Nafiu mentioned that medical staff at the hospital are providing focused care and attention to ensure the wellbeing of the mother and her babies.
Additionally, the Kano State Government has announced its commitment to covering the healthcare costs for the mother and her quintuplets.
Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Health in Kano State, revealed that this initiative is part of the state's broader efforts to enhance maternal and child healthcare, aiming to lower maternal and infant mortality rates.
Kofar Na’isa further emphasized that the government is dedicated to supporting vulnerable families, ensuring they have access to quality healthcare throughout the state.
