Kanyeyachukwu “Kanye” Tagbo-Okeke, the 16-year-old Nigerian prodigy previously highlighted for his achievements, has once again made headlines by securing his second Guinness World Record. This latest accomplishment solidifies his reputation, demonstrating that "impossibility is only a myth."
Kanye has captivated audiences with his cycling endeavors across the nation, showcasing remarkable endurance and a champion's spirit. He has now been officially recognized as the youngest person to cycle 100 miles (160.9 km). This particular record was established and certified in Abuja on March 14, 2026, as he completed the required distance.
However, Kanye's ambition led him to extend this into a significant cross- country endeavor known as the “Ride for Autism.” Over nearly three weeks, he covered an impressive 687 kilometers, passing through seven states including Anambra, Delta, Edo, Ondo, and Ogun, before concluding his journey in Lagos on April 2. The timing was poignant, aligning with World Autism Awareness Day, and his official Guinness World Record certificate was presented during a lively event.
During his ride, Kanye Tagbo-Okeke was seen leading a group of cyclists on a highway. This journey from Enugu to Lagos was a significant display of his commitment to autism awareness.
The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, praised his achievement as a national triumph, noting, "Kanyeyachukwu’s journey crosses geography and expectation. From canvas to highway, he carries the spirit of determination through every mile—stamina, imagination and quiet courage in motion." The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also met with the young champion at Lagos House, Marina, expressing his admiration and pledging ₦200 million towards autism advocacy and the Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke Foundation.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu welcomed Guinness World Record cyclist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke to Lagos House Marina, acknowledging his significant accomplishment.
Kanye, who is a non-verbal autistic artist and advocate, has emerged as a symbol of hope for neurodiverse individuals throughout Africa. Since he began painting at the age of four, he has utilized both art and sports as mediums for communication and for dismantling the stigmas surrounding autism.
This latest success follows his first Guinness World Record, achieved on April 2, 2025, in Abuja. He then set the record for the largest painting on canvas by an individual, an artwork titled “Impossibility is a Myth,” which spanned a remarkable 12,303.87 square meters—more than double the size of a standard football pitch. That initial achievement set the stage for his current accomplishments.
With this new record, Kanye joins a distinguished group of Nigerians who have earned recognition from Guinness World Records. He is now in company with culinary icon Hilda Baci, who holds multiple records for her cooking marathons; chess prodigy and advocate Tunde Onakoya, known for his longest chess marathon record in Times Square; as well as other notable figures like Fola David and Pelumi Nubi.
