Seven individuals were apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce for engaging in open defecation during a raid carried out in various locations on Lagos Island. The arrests were disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources.

The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has apprehended seven individuals for participating in open defecation activities.

The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, revealed this information to reporters, indicating that the arrests occurred during an early morning operation conducted by the state's anti-open defecation team in areas such as Ebute Ero and Sura - Simpson, among other locations on Lagos Island on February 27.

Seven individuals apprehended for open defecation in Lagos

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shile Suraj, Chika Chibuzor, Ganiu Mustafa, Justice Ugo, Ajala Olanrewaju, Adam Abubakar, and Lawal Mohammed.

Wahab stated that these environmental offenders would be taken to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) headquarters in Oshodi for further examination and legal proceedings.
