The Ikorodu High Court in Lagos State has instructed that three DNA tests be carried out abroad to establish the paternity of Liam, the son left behind by the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
Liam's paternity has been a subject of contention, particularly from Joseph Aloba, the father of the deceased artist. Mr. Aloba has stated that the burial of Mohbad, who died on September 27, 2023, will be postponed until a DNA test is conducted to clarify Liam's lineage.
During the resumed hearings in the paternity proceedings involving Mr. Aloba and Wunmi, the late singer's widow, on Tuesday, February 3, Mr. Aloba's attorney, Barrister Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed that the court has ruled for three separate DNA tests to be performed overseas.
According to Ogungbe, the court has instructed Mr. Aloba's legal team to propose three different international facilities where the DNA tests can be executed. Wunmi's team has also been given the same opportunity. The court is expected to evaluate the suggestions from both sides and ultimately select one facility abroad for the DNA testing. In total, three tests are to be conducted as the court has stipulated that all chosen laboratories must be capable of performing tissue-based DNA tests.
The case has been postponed until February 10.
